MOCHA was established in America’s capital, Washington D.C., on April 2, 2014 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) multicultural art museum of contemporary and heritage artworks.
We focus on culturally diverse, old and newer native born artists, and immigrant artists, who contribute importantly to America’s mosaic, but are under-represented in our large museums (especially in the permanent collections). We provide the artists with exhibition and teaching opportunities, and other resources, and we give bilingual access to their art and their cultures’ history, music, poetry and film to visitors of all ages.
MOCHA will have a DC presence, and a national and international imprint, through periodic local and touring exhibits of cultural heritage importance. Our vast and historically important art and archives collection is used both as a teaching resource in our Internships Program and for exhibits of cultural heritage.
